Calculate tips, split bills & find the right gratuity
In the USA, standard restaurant tips are 15-20% of the bill. For good service, tip 18-20%. For exceptional service, 22-25% or more. In other countries, tipping norms vary significantly.
Tip your hair stylist 15-20% of the service cost. For exceptional service, color corrections, or complex styles, consider 20-25%. If multiple stylists worked on you, tip each one separately.
Tip delivery drivers 15-20% or at least $3-5, whichever is higher. For DoorDash, Uber Eats, or other delivery apps, the same rule applies. Tip more for bad weather, long distances, or large orders.
Tip 15-20% for manicures and pedicures. If you received exceptional service or had a complex design, tip 20% or more. Some salons have multiple technicians - tip each one who served you.
Traditionally, tips are calculated on the pre-tax amount (subtotal). However, calculating on the total including tax has become common and is perfectly acceptable. Use whichever you prefer - the difference is usually small.
The formula is simple: Tip = Bill Amount ร (Tip Percentage รท 100). For example, 20% tip on $50: $50 ร 0.20 = $10 tip. Total = $50 + $10 = $60.
Add the tip to the total bill, then divide by the number of people. This calculator does it automatically! For unequal orders, some prefer to split based on what each person ordered plus their share of the tip.
